The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 musical comedy film that parodies science fiction and horror films. With a screenplay written by Richard O'Brien and Jim Sharman, the film features Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick. The film is based on the British musical stage production The Rocky Horror Show.
The film is considered a cult classic and a midnight movie, although it is widely known by mainstream audiences and has a large international following. RHPS was the first movie from a major film studio—20th Century Fox—in the midnight-movie market. The movie is one of the most well known and financially successful midnight movies. It is the longest running theatrical release in film history. More than 30 years later it is still in limited release in cinemas around the world. In 2005, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

I have more memory for my camera. That means more photos this year!
Also, if you are not on cue, it will show on the film! I can't cheat the images... even if I am a graphic designer with mad skilz. Not to freak you out, juts say'n. :) But whatevez cuz ya'll are impeccable anyway and I fantasize about mad orgies with you, which only get fulfilled once a year in front of a large audience. :) Yay!
*Disclaimer: ah, there is none. Yep. I'm just insane.

I think we should do two shows in a row... for the second set we should stalk Emily Duignan to the wedding!!!

So, now is not really the time of year to be thinking about RHPS too much, but it has been creeping up in the back of my mind a little bit. I mean, think about it, it's only about 3 1/2 months away. But what I'm really
thinking about isn't so much DCC RHPS '08, but the ones to follow. I'm actually graduating from DCC this summer semester. I'll be an alumni by the time RHPS starts up. I'm just automatically planning to do it because there's no one else lined up to handle the bill. But I plan on going to SUNY New Paltz for the Spring '09 semester, & what I would really
like to try & do is start up a show over there, or, if I really get my ass in gear, finally look for a theatre where I can do more regular local showings. So, if I pick up a new RHPS project (or two), then what is to become of DCC's production? I don't think I know anyone with whom I feel comfortable enough handing the reigns over to. I mean, last year's cast was a blast & all, & I think Alyssa could stand a chance of being my protégé with much practice & a lot of exposure to the film & performance, but I don't know if that's even something that she's interested in. I mean, I guess I'll just have to wait & see what this year's selection brings in regard to a new cast & new RHPS enthusiasts.
Remember folks, if you know anyone in the Poughkeepsie area that you think may have an interest in being a part of this upcoming DCC RHPS performance, send them my way. I'm always excited to see new Rocky-loving faces.

How does this seem to happen to me every year? Seriously, LJ, how? It logically doesn't make a lick of sense. I mean, ever single year I start up RHPS with these incredibly high expectations & an excited feeling like I have the world eating out of the palm of my hand.
Then we start to get into the nitty-gritty of it. Suddenly people stop showing up, drop out, or just plain suck balls. The entire thing starts to stress me out to the point where I just wanna put a lid on it & call the whole thing quits & just walk way.
But something inside me compels me to want to keep on going. Something tells me that it will work out in the end, so long as I keep on putting my best foot forward. & I do, no matter how much it aggrevates me. "It was strange the way it happened. Suddenly... you get a break! All of the pieces seem to fit into place. What a sucker you've been, what a fool. The answer was there all the time. It took a small accident to make it happen. AN ACCIDENT!"
Frank couldn't be more right. That's exactly what happens. Suddenly some fluke thing happens that suddenly brings things together perfectly. I don't know how it happens, but every year a matter of weeks before the show suddenly everyone begins to look amazing in their part. Suddenly everyone gets along like they've been best friends for years. Suddenly I don't have to direct them anymore, they've got the entire thing under control & I can just sit back & watch the magic of it unfold right before my very eyes.
I have such an amazing cast this year. I really do. Everyone is incredibly sweet & funny & happy-go-lucky (something I really need right now, not only for Rocky, but also for my personal life). Everyone makes the best effort they possibly can to make their role look perfect. Everyone is willing to lend a helping hand to me.
Outside of a few loose ends that I'll tie up this week, everything is working out perfectly. & I couldn't be more thrilled!

It's time to gear up, buckle down, & cross-dress for the new year of DCC's Rocky Horror Picture Show!
If you're reading this, that probably means that you've been in the cast in the past. If you haven't been fortunate enough to be a cast member, then you're at least a tried & true devoted RHPS fanatic, which means that this year might be your year to flurish before hundreds of transexual-hungry fans!
Come on by for auditions this Friday, September 14th for a low-key audition. It will be meeting at 5:30pm in D205. What's the audition consist of, you ask? Well, we'll be talking about what roles each of you may be interested in, seeing about maybe getting you in a role right away, maybe having you put on a simple show for us, watching the movie, getting to know each other, & deciding when the best times for rehearsals would be. See, nothing painful. Just a fun couple of hours with some fellow RHPS fans.
Got that? Good. See ya there.

I just want to let you all know that the next RHPS rehearsal (Friday, 10/14) will take place in the Dutchess East Lounge (where auditions were held) instead of Drumlin Hall cafeteria. (I guess there's something scheduled in our usual spot.) So please just make note of this, & be sure to inform your fellow cast members if you see them around (not everyone has regular internet access). Thanks so much! I'll see you all on Friday!

Matt Hanlon has informed me that we are set to go for every Friday at 6pm in Drumlin Hall cafeteria with the exception of October 14th, in which case we will simply use the Dutchess East Lounge (where we held auditions).

So, I'm really glad for the turn-out that we got for Day 1 of auditions yesterday. & it's always refreshing to see new prospectful cast members. We have to keep this even pumping with at least some
new blood from year to year. I think the couple of auditions that we've gotten a chance to see so far have been very good. I'm very excited to see all Lauren & Alyssa audition next week, as well as all of those who where not able to make it to the first audition. I think we're going to have a very smooth operating show this year, & hopefully it'll be a lot of fun as well.
I'd like to thank David & Kate as well for all the help their providing. Like I was saying to Kate, it's a little bit difficult for me because I'm working full-time during the day & taking twelve credits at night, so the fact that David & Kate are so willing & able to jump in is fantastic.
I'm very excited to see next week's auditions & make our decisions. I expect to have a great cast pieced together... Current Mood: content
